250221 Near and Far

 Near and Far

Lord, I want you near, but you seem far
I'm seeking to be where you are
Yet, troubles keep on pulling me
Away from where I want to be

God, how I want you to be near
But, the world's noise is all I hear
The loud, banging cacophony
Makes you feel oh so far from me

I know if I would just be still
I'd much more clearly know your will
Instead, frantic activity
Fills my days with anxiety

Things seem to go from bad to worse
When I don't stop and put you first
For if you seem so far away
It isn't you, but me that strayed

If I would stop and turn around
Then oh so clearly I'll have found
That you've always been by my side
With loving gaze; arms opened wide

Yes, now, as far as I can see
You've always been quite near to me
You waited for me patiently
I found you while on bended knee

Did not have to look near and far
To see exactly where you are
Your Spirit's been inside of me
Whispering to me quietly

Just needed to be still and hear
And trust that you are always near
Thank you for all you do and are
Worthy of all my praise, by far
