250313 Stillness

 Stillness

Be still is something we can't do
When at the tender age of two
In fact, all through our childhood
Though told to do it, seldom could

It's hard to be still in our seat
When music gives us happy feet
For, even if the beat is slow
We find we're swaying to and fro

Of't times happens against our will
That mind or body can't be still
The effort to be takes its toll
When we have little self- control

As adults, we are rarely still
Unless perhaps we've fallen ill
Is "still" something we ought to be
Or looked upon as just lazy

Though whole world says to do, do, do
The state of stillness has value
Constant busyness is not best
For body and mind need to rest

The state of busyness, in fact
Is meant strategically to distract
From what true stillness can provide
A peace that's found on other side

So valuable, God gave command
Be still, and thus know that " I Am"
His still, small voice will be more clear
When we slow down enough to hear

When fearful or in anxious state
Be still, and on God meditate
If we don't make stillness a choice
We'll find it hard to hear his voice

Relationship with God's what matters
Can't nurture it in all world's clatter
So make the time to just be still
It's there we'll hear and know God's will
