250319 A Sacred Place

 A Sacred Place

I'm hunting for a quiet place
Perhaps somewhere with open space
A site where I can simply be
Place all alone with only me

Well, actually, that is not true
For Father, I want you there too
A peaceful place upon this earth
Where Lord and I simply converse

It need not be too far away
Just somewhere I can go and stay
Until I hear your voice again
A need of which I so depend

Locale where I can clear my mind
A place where muscle knots unwind
Somewhere that I can take deep breaths
Place mind and body can find rest

A lovely spot to soothe my soul
When weight of world's taken a toll
Where for a time world fades away
And sunshine chases all that's gray

Proximity's not a deal breaker
As long as I'm close to my maker
For if a place like that is found
I'm certain it is hallowed ground

Perhaps it's in my garden plot
For I have heard God there a lot
Or maybe on a sandy shore
Since I have found calm there before

Or high upon a mountain top
Where God's glory's displayed non-stop
Perhaps upon a wooded trail
Hear God in forests without fail

A darkened room behind closed door
May be all I am looking for
A simple place of solitude
For even that, peace can exude

A space with sunshine, gentle breeze
Perhaps the place is all of these
For I can find peace anywhere
If I remember, God is there

Can leave the house or stay a home
No matter near or far I roam
If seeking God's what I embrace
Then everywhere's a sacred place
