 The Hard Part

Some think when you confess your sin
Accept Christ  Jesus, let him in
Smooth sailing comes from that point on
And only joy greets each new dawn

Some think that all you have to do 
Is get baptized, and then you're through 
Once you profess your Lord is Christ 
Then everything will turn out nice

To follow Christ  - the easy road?
For he will lighten every load
The Word says so, thus it is true
Don't think you've no hard work to do

The easy part - accept, believe
Hard part comes after you receive 
All things worthwhile come with a cost
Thus, you're called to take up your cross

Let's not forget hard part was done
When Jesus conquered death and won
Your hardships pale when you compare
Rejoice in sufferings you share

So, don't expect an easy life
But one filled with self-sacrifice 
To make the hard choice every day
To follow Christ in every way 

When one long mile is asked of you
Instead of one, you give them two
In face of angry words they speak
You simply turn the other cheek

Stand in your faith, though it brings trouble
Love they've not earned, you give them double
To witness 'bout the risen Lord
Though you are cursed at or ignored

To live for Jesus is hard part
In hostile world, but still take heart
Though Satan will try hard to break you
Trust Jesus won't leave or forsake you

Though this world's trials are hard and rough 
With Jesus you've more than enough 
And he will bless you every day
With joy and love along the way

Rest assured when you've fought good fight
And you've followed Christ's path of light
It's led you through the narrow gate
Where heavenly rewards await

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
