250422 Hide and Seek

 Hide and Seek

As children, we played hide and seek
At home or on the school playground
You'd count to ten; try not to peek
Then, search until your friends were found

And oh, what fun when friends were spied
Though they were hidden purposely
Not quite so fun when treasures hide
Or hunt things of necessity

For hidden keys or needed tools
Don't seem to be where were put last
Can frustrate; make us lose our cools
And in our days, a shadow cast

The Lord also has hidden things
From all those arrogant and "wise"
Sometimes wisdom he only brings
To those who seek with child-like eyes

Yet, God says if you seek, shall find
If seeking with a sincere heart
For Father, Abba's good and kind
Desires his blessings to impart

But, if you're seeking perfect life
Because yours is a Christian one
You'll find instead this one has strife
A truth foretold by God's own Son

That fact shan't make you run and hide
If loving God, earnestly seek
For when you do he's by your side
To strengthen you when you feel weak

Seek faith and hope if those you lack
They're yours to have at your request
He loves you so; can't hide that fact
And seeking him will bring you rest

Then, just like in the children's game
What joy when what you seek is found
When pray to seek God in Christ's name
His love and blessings will astound
