250429 The Words You Say

The Words You Say

You talk to others every day
Should always watch the words you say
But more than that, you speak to you
So, should be careful how you do

For how you speak within your mind
Becomes reality in time
Your words repeated will seem true
Till that's what you believe of you

The devil knows the truth of this
So he'll replace kind words with his
Reminding you how you fall short
He makes you miserable for sport

Filling your mind with devilish lies
Till you see you, through Satan's eyes
Worthless, unloved, full of mistakes
Persists until your spirit breaks

Resist what devil puts in head
And listen to God's words instead
You're not your past; you're so much more
To Christ, you are worth dying for

You're not the sum of all your sin
You're new creation from within
For through Christ, you've been reconciled
You are God's most beloved child

You're not the tail, but are the head
See you as God sees you instead
You're not condemned, you're not the least
In fact, your God's own masterpiece

Resist the devil - he will flee
Then who you truly are, you'll see
And when you learn to give self grace
Your Savior reflects in your face

Same grace you'll then extend to others
To strangers, friends, to sisters, brothers
Deliberately; more every day
It all begins with words you say
