 Happy Day

Today is such a happy day 
Because I've chosen it that way
Not due to any circumstance 
Or solely out of happenstance 

My happiness is all my choice
Thus, I've decided to rejoice
Though there is much I could fret from
Chosen to smile and not be glum

While circumstances might not change
My countenance I can arrange
So, rather than head hanging down
A happy face replaces frown

Though one could say that's being fake
Perhaps there is a different take
For when you dwell on hurt or pain
What good thing do you really gain

Yes, we all choose to entertain 
Good or bad thoughts within our brain
Though we can't stop each thought that comes
Can focus on the happy ones

To have an upbeat attitude 
Best way to start's with gratitude 
For when we have a thankful heart
Then happiness it will impart

I've so much to be grateful for
A loving family I adore
Enough to eat, a comfy bed
A working car, roof over head

The blessing of new day in time
A God who's faithful, loving, kind 
So, yes, today's a happy day
Because I'm seeing it that way

In the Garden In my garden I find peace From all the troubles thrown my way My breathing slows, tensions release When digging in the dirt and clay To garden does not feel like toil Or work that I am forced to do It's joy to feel my hands in soil To grow things and watch life renew The weeds don't even make me pout Imagine each one as a care I pluck them up and throw them out Now gone as if we're never there What joy to watch new sprouts appear From bulbs I planted in the fall Their blooms filling my heart with cheer The tulips, daffodils, and all Each early morn while there's still dew And sun has just begun to rise I rush to see what sprouted new Each leaf and bud a sweet surprise  Then, carefully, I tend each one A little water, proper soil The right amount of shade or sun Such pleasant work, nothing can spoil You all are truly gardeners, too  A fact that perhaps you don't know You're sowing things by what you do And also reaping what you grow For when you pla...
