 Family

I'm blessed with a great family 

The ones who know the real me

Those whom I act most crazy with

I truly know they are a gift

With family, I can let down hair

When I mess up, still know they care

We share a common ancestry 

Each one's a special part of me 

May also share same nose or eyes

Even share clothes, if wear same size

Share secrets, stories, inside jokes

We even share the same old folks

Like every other family tree

A few members may be nutty

No need to say their names to you

We all know that it's "you know who"

My family's great, don't get me wrong

But, we don't always get along 

Best families still do fuss and fight 

And disagree 'bout who is right

Yet, though there're times when looks could kill

I'll probably keep them in the will

Since anything that I might lack

I know they've always got my back

Yes, there's no greater company

Than members of my family 

And even if they're miles away

Forever in my heart, they'll stay

Dear friends can be your family too

Though not by blood; adopted you

Yet, just as loving, loyal too

As family you were born into 

God's family, you're a member of

A child of God, conceived in love

With brothers, sisters beyond count

A fact that should be paramount

For, just like with blood relatives

God's family members, support gives

To all the others in the clan

To help each other when they can

With loving Father at the head

Yes, to our Savior we are wed

What greater family could there be

For this one is most heavenly

Let's love no matter the expense 

So world sees family resemblance

Then, they can be adopted too

Because of love they see in you

Rejoice, rejoice in family

God created it intentionally 

In the by and by with sweet communion

Shall have a heavenly family reunion
