250602 Good Out of Grief
Good Out of Grief
I bear witness, my dear friends
That though it seems grief never ends
If you will let it tell its story
Your grief, God can use for his glory
For through my tears my Lord used me
To witness with my poetry
While in despair, as means to cope
T'was made a messenger of hope
Not wallow in my pitied state
But through me, others elevate
Show for a time joy's all but dead
There's hope and happiness ahead
While words I write, don't always feel
Yet, truth of them is very real
They come in ways I can't explain
A soothing balm for my own pain
And as I put my pen to paper
My own grief dissipates like vapor
At least it lessens for a while
Brings to my downcast face a smile
For, it is pure joy when I write
Prose that the Spirit brings to light
Certain the words are not my own
But ones the Father has made known
So, with sincere humility
I praise the God who uses me
In ways I could not have foreseen
My words from heavenly sources glean
Thus, in obedience, I write
And share God's messages of light
That, even when your hopes life dashes
God promises beauty for ashes
Take heart within the midst of grief
Seek God, and cling to your belief
He holds you in his loving hands
Can use your pain for his good plans
The God who gave this gift to me
Is God who gives gifts generously
If you've once grieved; are grieving still
Be open to God's perfect will
He'll use your worst - make it his best
A truth of which I can attest
His love and care for you reveal
And in the process, help you heal
