231012 What If

What If (From Worry to Worship) What if they don't like me? What if the check doesn't come? What if the doctor's report is bad? What if I fail? What if this is all there is? What if...? What if...? It has been said that most of what we worry about never comes to pass. " Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Mt 6:25-34) In fact, worry robs you of your hours and can leave you anxious and unproductive for the work God has planned for you. (Mt 13:22; Mk 4:19) And our greatest work for each day is to serve and worship our Maker. So, how do we get from worry to worship? What if we turn each "what if" from a negative to a positive statement in our minds? What if we turn our worries of lack into praise of our abundance? What if we focus not on our chance of failure but on our past successes? What if we dispel our fears of acceptance with the truth of who we are in Christ? What if we spend as much time in God's word and his promises as w...

231011 Imprisoned

Imprisoned  What vice are you indebted to? What sin does hold your prison key? What power has control of you? What has ensnared - won't let you free? Is prison cell built of conceit? Each brick made up of haughty pride Or trapped in web made of deceit? Spun stronger every time you lied Stronghold one of dependency  On substance or one close to you? Are earthly lusts what you can't flee No matter what you try to do? Perhaps it's idleness you fight  Much time spent in mindless pursuit  Or coveting others, your plight Any number of forbidden fruit Your will, Satan's put shackles on They're binding both your hands and feet Can't run away; chained like a con All effort ends up in defeat The only way you can break free Is not by your own strength or will But, to seek God on bended knee  Through prayer, God's own strength, he'll instill It comes when you repent your sin Next, totally surrender all Then, transformation will begin And strongholds will crumble and...

231004 A Good Day

A Good Day My bills are piling to the sky But, have what's needed to get by So, today is a good day All of this noise can drive me wild Yet, noise is the lifeblood of each child Thus, today is a good day Responsibilities are huge God gives me all his strength to use See, today is a good day  Am aching from my feet to head But, I can still get out of bed So, today is a good day  My pantry shelves are kind of bare There's tuna, pasta, soup in there Yes, today is a good day  Where can my reading glasses be Yet, thank the Lord that I still see See, it is a good day Heater's not working anymore Have blankets and sweaters galore Thus, today is a good day  The sink faucet has sprung a leak Yet, don't haul water from a creek So, today is a good day  All of my friends have burdens, too So, God has taught me what to do Pray for their good day The whole world is in need of peace Yet, I can do my part at least Make today a good day  The kind of day you have's a choice ...

231003 Unearned

Unearned Earn a promotion, earn a raise Earn touchdown for good football plays Earn gold medal or blue ribbon Earn leading role for play you're in Earn soccer trophy, scholarship  Earn respect in a relationship  Earn settlement in legal suit Earn recognition playing flute While every one of those is nice Won't earn your way to paradise  It's not something you can work for Only one way opens that door It's a free gift! Can you believe it? The one thing to do is receive it Accept that Jesus is the Christ And then can live in paradise  It seems too simple to be true For surely there is more to do In this life, everyone has learned All things of value must be earned How could this gift be freely given A golden ticket into heaven? Not really free - cost dearest price Through broken body of Jesus Christ  For with his death, sin's bill was paid Then rose so we could all be saved All done because of unearned love From God, our Father up above Don't strive to earn it any...

231002 Life's Storms

Life's Storms The storms are raging hour upon hour Don't focus on rains, but on God's power For, though there seems no end in sight Safety is found in Jesus's light Been tossed about on turbulent waves Keep vision set on One who saves Don't let your fears sound warning bells Have faith in One who calms the swells Great worries keep you up at night And waking hours feel like a fight Don't you forget, the battle's won So, don your armor - trust the Son Not sure at all which way to go  Your mind keeps changing to and fro The wisest counsel you can seek Is to your heavenly Father speak Though, from life's storms, you want to hide Know God is always at your side There're lessons learned surviving them If you'll put faith and trust in him God never said no storms you'll face Each one's a chance to feel His grace For, while they rage and hope seems dim You'll learn you can rely on him Can't learn some any other way Won't be found on ...
