230807 Go Left

Go Left

I have a sign upon my wall

That I think says it best

Life's motto I should make of it

"When nothing goes right, go left"

Sometimes we travel down wrong road

Knowing we got off track

But keep on plodding straight ahead

Instead of turning back

Continue doing what we've done

Despite not working out

Expecting different outcome

Will cause confusion and doubt

Oh, yes, we can be stubborn lot

Refusing to change course

Not making an adjustment

But instead, making things worse

Won't say, "need help" or "I was wrong"

Or try another way

Instead, we keep on floundering

For our pride comes into play

Reread my sign another time

And follow its advice

To change course or start over

Truly's never been a vice

It shows that you keep learning

From the school we call "hard knocks"

A school we've all attended

If you've been around few blocks

If mistakes you want to minimize

Then, seek a trusted guide

Someone who knows which path to take

Who's knowledgeable and wise

One who's also forgiving

One who has patience with you

For He knows you'll have more missteps

It's what all humans do

Then, study precious Guide Book

It's like holy GPS

Within its divine pages

Learn whether to go right or left

Then, take your steps with confidence

For God will lead the way

And gently guide you back on course

If ever you should stray
