Jesus' Way


Grace and forgiveness are Jesus' way

Not glares, wagging fingers,  or blame

For these things do little to soften a heart

But instead produce anger and shame


Patience and gentleness are Jesus' way

Allowing mistakes to be made

Then, with utmost kindness, he nudges our steps

To guide us on path he has laid


Humbly with meekness is Jesus' way

To step from his throne and to serve

Not seek his own honor or our accolades 

Though those things he most richly deserves


Care and compassion are Jesus' way

He feels for us when we're forlorn 

He understands all of the pain we endure

For, he too sheds tears when we mourn


Defender, protector is Jesus' way

He fights every battle we face

He'll take all our conflicts unto himself 

And give us his peace in its place


Vengeance and justice are Jesus' way 

For he knows that pure evil exists

And no loving God can let hate have its way

When those led by the devil resist


Love is the essence of Jesus' way

The foundation of all that he does

Forgiveness, compassion, protection, and care

All of these Jesus does out of love


As Christians, we're called to live Jesus' way

Let his love guide all things that we do

Then he'll slowly transform us 'til we find that one day

That Jesus' way becomes our way too


Ephesians 5:1-2

Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God

This is my commandment,  that you love one another as I have loved you

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
