230920 Each Day

Each Day

I want to greet the world each day

With joy, but I don't feel that way

I know I should, I really do

Yet, many days, I just get through

A list of tasks a mile long

Create an attitude all wrong

So, not embracing gift it is

But sigh, and moan, and groan "gee whiz"

I thank you, God, for each new day

Too often, they're just words I say

Perhaps because I think I should

Or to convince myself I'm good

But, you Lord know what's in my heart

And when I only give you part

Or when my problems and my strife

Have clouded the glory of this life

Forgive me, God, for spitting on

The miracle of each new dawn

For that's exactly what I do

When for each I don't worship you

Help me to cherish every one

From rising to the setting sun

And do so with sincerity

See each as gift you've given me

Restore a right spirit in me

Replace with joy my negativity

Soften my heart your divine way

So that I glorify You each day

Psalm 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it

Malachi 1:11

For from the rising of the sun to its setting, my name will be great among the nations

Lamentations 3:22-24

1 Thessalonians 5:18

And let your Father take the lead

You'll find the things you have "to do"

Won't overwhelm, and you'll succeed
