240117 Normal Changes

Normal Changes

It seemed an ordinary day
In every single way
Nothing unusual or unique
Like any other day

Then suddenly world rearranged
In the blink of an eye
For good or bad, your normal changed
New normal, you must find

And in an instant, you're aware
Things will never be the same
Just exactly how they're different
Is a thing you can't yet name

But, know that you must navigate
A world foreign to you
One you are not familiar with
A world that feels brand new

Perhaps this brings excitement
For change is a welcome one
And plain old normal is a thing
You're glad to overcome

Maybe brings trepidation
Like the ground has given way
Foundation you had counted on
Was only made of clay

No matter what the reason
That your normal's come undone
The road ahead's uncertain
A new journey has begun

And with uncertainty comes stress
Unsure footing; feet may slip
Sail through what feels like stormy seas
Til you can right the ship

Then, sail to calmer waters
Float along in " normal sea"
But know that all of this takes time
It's all part of the journey

So, if change means you can't do things
The way you normally do
Worship the God who never changes
And he will see you through

He'll be your firm foundation
When the ground has given way
He'll celebrate along with you
When joyful changes fill your day

Your changes come as no surprise
To God, who sees all things
So trust him more than normal
With the changes that life brings
