 Humble Me

Dear Lord, will you please humble me
Help me live with humility 
Too often, I've put myself first
And being selfish is the worst

God, take me down a notch or two
When I seek glory owed to you
As I become filled with ego
Lord, lovingly, please bring me low

Dear Lord, please help me open wide
And willingly swallow my pride
Accept that all's not mine to do
Then, put my faith and trust in you

Dear Father, when I run toward sin
Correct me with just discipline 
Though painful when it comes to me
Must happen to be truly free

Holy Spirit, please direct my way
When off the righteous path I stray
Lead me back to the way that's true
So, Christ, I only follow you

And Spirit, to my heart do speak
When only worldly things I seek
Help me to strive for heavenly things
And the eternal joy that brings

Dear Father, teach me to be wise
So I discern the devil's lies
And help me to live honestly
So people can have trust in me

Sweet Jesus, help me be like you
In everything I say and do
Meet other's needs before my own
To only speak in loving tone

Yes, Father Abba humble me
With compassion and empathy
May I see others as you see
As your children and thus worthy

So, I humbly approach your throne
Give all glory to you alone
Serve you with all humility 
From now, through all eternity

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
