240815 Die To Self

 Die To Self

Dear Father, help me die to self
I just can't do it; need your help
I say that I'll put others first
Yet, ego has unquenchable thirst

And so instead, I think of me
Then others come secondarily
Sometimes their needs don't come at all
Attitude could use an overhaul

Dear Father,  won't you humble me
Help me live with humility
To seek to see another's need
Let "serving others" be my creed

For I want to be more than nice
To be the hands and feet of Christ
Not simply be words that I say
But really, truly live that way

Dear Lord, let my motives be pure
To serve your kingdom, nothing more
To seek those others look right through
See them as worthy; as you do

My selfish nature, put to end
A loving one, then to extend
Never seeking my own fame
Instead do all in Jesus' name

Let my life be reflection of
My Savior's boundless, tender love
When I die, may my legacy
Be that I lived life selflessly
