240902 Thirsty?

 Thirsty?

You can lead a horse to water
But you can not make him drink
That's true in more life circumstance
Than we might even think

If a horse doesn't perceive the need
Of what you're offering
No matter how you push and prod
He just won't drink a thing

People behave the exact way
As horses sometimes do
Refusing to drink of the thing
You try to lead them to

No matter how enticing
That you find the thing to be
To drink of it, they will not do
If they are not thirsty

In raising kids, this often is
A common scenario
Try leading them on straight path
That they do not want to go

And so you find you push and prod
Use your authority
Yet, it would be much easier
If they were just thirsty

And since we're sure we know what's best
We discipline or plead
Yet, they'll be more cooperative
When they finally see the need

So, when's the time a horse will drink?
When he is ready to
Until that time, he will refuse
No matter what you do

And, what about God's children
For his Word can quench all thirst
Some still refuse to drink it
For they must desire it first

God offers living water
Yet, he'll never beg or plead
He'll lead you to still waters
But you have to see the need

So, if you're feeling thirsty
And found world is not the quencher
Then, seek God's living water
And begin divine adventure
