241017 Free Offer

 Free Offer

I saw an ad the other day
That said, free offer - nothing pay
I know there's catch, so I'm leery
For everyone knows nothing's free

A salesman asked to have my time
He said it wouldn't cost a dime
A sales pitch, then I had to hear
It cost my time; the price was dear

The sign says, Buy One, Get One Free
I still must buy something, you see
Now, I have two things I don't need
Because free offer, I believed

The government offers things free
Then candidate  says, "vote for me"
But handouts come with heavy price
To give things free, they tax us twice

Know, even without a degree
Something for nothing cannot be
For everything accrues a cost
That truth, not on a child is lost

But wait a minute, Bible tells
There's a free ticket out of hell
There is no payment to be made
Because the cost's already paid

Became the first Black Friday sale
On Calvary, with thorn and nail
Then, bought upon a cursed tree
Not forced upon, but given free

For Jesus Christ paid the full cost
To save our souls, redeem the lost
His sacrifice, to do God's will
Wrote, "Paid in Full" across sin's bill

Seems this deal's too good to be true
But one the Father offers you
So, if this deal you want to claim
The Book of Life must bear your name

It's written there when you believe
Then, Lord's salvation you'll receive
If you except it 'fore too late
You'll find no expiration date

Wait, read contract 'fore you begin
It says, must be present to win
No one can claim it in your place
Each must accept personal grace

God's made an offer can't refuse
Yet, grieves Him many still won't choose
To win life's greatest lottery
Accepting Christ and his mercy

Choose life, a gift not found in store
Yet, brought directly to your door
Arrives straight from the factory
And comes with free delivery
