241022 Hypocrisy

 Hypocrisy

Do you ever feel like a hypocrite
Tell them, " Stay calm," then throw a fit
Say you love people all the same
But certain ones, you always blame

Do you notice the hypocrisy
In what you hide or let world see
Your words and actions aren't in sync
Concealing what you really think

Do you feel just like a hypocrite
Not very much, but just a bit
When good advice you often spew
But none of it applies to you

When Christ exposed the hypocrisy
Of the leaders of the Pharisees
Is the first thing that you thought to say
"Oh boy, I'm glad I'm not that way."

Hypocrisy goes a little far
If you boast of how humble you are
You pretend you wouldn't act that way
But, when you do it, then it's okay

Yet, a hypocrite you just might be
If their speck but not your log you see
We might all have closets full of bones
Clean your own glass house 'fore throwing stones

Culture's quick to point it out to you
How act piously when in a pew
But when at home or go to work
You behave like any other jerk

Yes, the world thinks its hypocrisy
If while sinning claim a Christian be
As if Christians must live perfectly
Any less than that's hypocrisy

But the world says all have fallen short
And in fact, we're all the sinful sort
Is church hypocritical to say
We should strive to live a better way

So let's all a little grace extend
Harsh judgment try best to suspend
For to love and live in harmony
Frees us from claims of hypocrisy
