241109 A Second Chance

 A Second Chance

I messed up; I apologize
You said you've heard that song and dance
I see the hurting in your eyes
We all deserve a second chance

I didn't mean those things I said
Jumped to conclusions at first glance
I let my anger go to head
We all deserve a second chance

I made assumptions how you felt
I should have asked you in advance
Your coldness, I must try to melt
We all deserve a second chance

Yes, my remorse is most sincere
Not just for standing to enhance
So please forgive me, won't you, dear
We all deserve a second chance

When find relationship is tense
In mind, transgressions still relive
Dear Lord, when others cause offense
How many times must I forgive

We all are sinners, it is true
Misstepping in this life we dance
I need forgiveness; so do you
We all deserve a second chance

For Jesus, man/ God, without sin
Was the author of second chance
Forgave all that was done to him
Infinite mercy, our Lord grants

So likewise we must mercy give
The only way love can advance
Seventy-seven times, forgive
Thus, love prevails; and not by chance
