250428 What Comes Next
What Comes Next
Is what comes next just dark abyss
And though the things of world you'll miss
When death comes knocking at your door
This life will end with nothing more
Oh, what a dismal way to end
Won't see your loved ones e'er again
That all you are and loved has passed
When in this world you've breathed your last
That there is no sweet by and by
And nothing happens when you die
If that is what you've learned or thought
Then your whole life is all for naught
If this life is all that there is
It does not matter how you live
For what's the value of a life
For love, or hate? For joy or strife?
With little purpose how life's spent
Are you of any consequence
If you've no good reason to be
You'll simply spend life aimlessly
In search of pleasure till it's through
Living a life only for you
If carnal pleasure satisfied
Why are so many dead inside
Purposeless life has got you vexed?
And made you wonder what comes next
Seeking fulfillment on this earth?
What you're in need of is rebirth
To know this life is not the end
Requires being born again
Your life is not futility
With eyes set on eternity
That what comes next is so much more
Than anything you've known before
To fill the empty hole in you
Is only something God can do
Hole can't be filled with earthly things
But with salvation Jesus brings
If questioning just what comes next
The answer's found in Holy Text
The God that has created you
Says, "Come to me, your searching's through."
No longer must you live perplexed
I'll show you clearly what comes next
An afterlife that's heavenly
You only need to follow me
When life with God then intersects
He'll lead you from this one to next
