Remember the Alamo
We've come to see the Alamo
Where battle happened long ago
A fight for freedom had begun
With highest hopes it would be won
The yearning heart of every man
Is to live freely as they can
No reinforcements brought relief
Yet, still held on to that belief
A line was drawn upon the sand
Each fighter crossed it - save one man
Though far outnumbered, fought because
They each believed was worthy cause
And in the smoke of battle's haze
They fought bravely for thirteen days
Though enemy had breached the wall
Each Texian gave it their all
While every single man would die
Their deaths gave birth to battle cry
Santa Ana thought the war was over
Defeat made other Texians bolder
The year was 1836
Significance no one predicts
For in the rubble of the Mission
Rose up a stronger new commission
Avenge Ana's brutality
And fight onward to victory
Though Alamo ends in defeat
The freedom story's not complete
There's still a battle we're all in
Not just if you're a Texian
The battle's freedom for our soul
The thing Satan seeks to control
Though on earth battle rages on
Believers know Savior has won
His love for us - cause, which he died
"It's finished," was his battle cry
When Satan seeks new price to pay
"It's finished," is what we can say
Christ paid in full - There's debt no more
For our Redeemer's won that war
When seems sin's dealt a fatal blow
Just remember the Alamo
Freedom's a goal you can achieve
Give battle to God, and believe
