240124 Why Do I Write?
Why Do I Write?
I write such lovely poetry
With Holy Spirit guiding me
And while I know each word rings true
Act like it just applies to you
I write of trust, and hope, and grace
How you can see God every place
That where you go Christ goes along
But then behave like that's all wrong
I pen fine words upon the page
Dispensing advice, oh so sage
I know God's words are being said
Then listen to Satan's instead
How is it I can know the way
And even know right words to say
Yet, then behave so differently
When troubles come to visit me
I feel like such a hypocrite
Perhaps this prose thing I should quit
For, why keep writing every day
When I don't act out what I say
Oh no! See, there I go again
Not hearing God - instead, Satan
For I know God has gifted me
To use prose as a ministry
And devil would love nothing more
Than causing me to close the door
On how the Lord is using me
To witness through my poetry
So, while I'm just a sinner still
I'll do my best to seek God's will
To listen for what he will say
Is my purpose, and then obey
And though I mess up all the time
Continue praising God through rhyme
His love and mercy fill my days
He's oh so worthy of my praise

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God
Romans 10:17
So faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ
Hebrews 10:36
Proverbs 3:5-6
