250329 Conflict

 Conflict

I didn't do it as you would
Does that mean my way is no good
If not your way, then you poo poo it
Could there be other ways to do it

We do not see things eye to eye
Is my way truth and yours a lie
Could it just be we both are wrong
What will it take to get along

You're judging me, I'm judging you
In much of what we say or do
Behind our back or to our face
No matter, it is not our place

Opposing views, we each assail
Fight for our point with tooth and nail
Demanding that our voice be heard
While others can't get in a word

Yes, you must hear what I've to say
Same courtesy goes other way
Healthy debate, can't do without
Yet, both sides only want to shout

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
Is that how we reach common truth
Or argue until end of time
'Cause you have your truth, I have mine

Can we agree to disagree
Or must there be hostility
Can peace and harmony be found
Is there a place of common ground

Aren't there times we can compromise
To do so can often be wise
Except in integrity's case
For once lost, it's hard to replace

In as much as it's up to me
Treat others as I want to be
Not from all conflict run and hide
Yet, when occurs, in Christ abide

Conflict's part of human condition
Yet, if to God give full submission
Won't be met with angry reaction
Instead, with godly, loving action

Rather than fight, I'll pray for you
And if you would, pray for me, too
Though this world will have conflict, still
Through love, we live within God's will
