250403 Two Sparrows

 Two Sparrows

Watched two sparrows choosing a home
Beside my patio
One stands guard on the birdhouse roof
Other one flits to and fro

While sitting on my garden seat
My vantage point's the best
To watch all the activity
Of couple building nest

As mom and dad went back and forth
No sticks or twigs were brought
It seems all the activity
Had just been all for naught

Upon closer inspection
I see that they then changed their quest
For in that very birdhouse
A red wasp had built a nest

And so the sparrows moved along
Seeking a new birthplace
To raise their little family
In a far safer space

It made me think about the times
My plans have gone awry
When in initial eagerness
Some danger did not spy

Too busy flitting to and fro
To keep a cautious eye
Not paying apt attention
Or see where the dangers lie

Yet, God, in his great wisdom
And with mercy, love and grace
Keeps a watchful eye upon my life
Knows each danger I may face

When I do not heed his warnings
Or throw caution to the wind
Ever with love redirects me
Brings me safely back to him

Know my value's more than sparrow's
But from sparrows I can learn
With Him, needs are provided
For each life is God's concern

So, I praise you, Lord, for sparrows
For your safety in my nest
For your nature, found in nature
And each way in which I'm blessed
