250408 Jaded

 Jaded

We humans are a jaded race
Our awe, with apathy, replace
God's miracles on full display
Yet, view them just as everyday

We workers work as jaded crew
Complain of work we have to do
Instead of giving thanks to God
That we have even got a job

Americans - a jaded lot
The land of plenty we have got
Blessed with abundance on this earth
Yet, often fail to see its worth

We're jaded 'bout our freedoms too
Rights Creator endowed to you
Ignoring price our founders paid
When country's foundation was laid

We couples are a jaded pair
Sometimes forgetting partner's there
Until our partnership is done
And then become a group of one

Families can be a jaded scene
Disregarding what relations mean
Indifferent to the gift they are
Prefer relation from afar

We're jaded 'bout so many things
Not caring to count all blessings
Instead, just counting what we lack
It's gratitude we must get back

Can take for granted all that's good
Not appreciate it as we should
Until there comes the dreadful day
When it's all been taken away

For why should God keep blessing us
When all we choose to do is fuss
Lack of appreciation for
So why should Father give us more

Some jaded Christians don't think twice
About our Savior's sacrifice
So quick to reap its benefit
Forgetting the true cost of it

When salvation's treated as blasé
Meaning of Christ's death,  thrown away
And just like pearls placed before swine
We treat as worthless what's divine

Today, let's pledge, with fresh eyes see
Christ's sacrifice on Calvary
Not indifferent but with gratitude
Become our heart's new attitude

Let's strive to show our thankfulness
For all the ways our Lord does bless
In turn, then pass those blessings on
Until our jadedness is gone
