250527 A Compliment

 A Compliment

I sure could use a compliment
For all my energy is spent
On doing things nobody sees
Out of duty or just to please

If I could hear a word of thanks
Would do a lot to fill my tanks
For, to be honest, I won't lie
There are days my reserves run dry

Someone to notice what I do
Would surely help me muddle through
Another day of endless tasks
Is that really too much to ask

Even a single word of praise
Could lighten up the heavy days
To know that what I do is seen
By even just one human being

Taken for granted, sometimes feel
When all I do seems no big deal
To people that I do it for
Yet, never want to just keep score

For what I do I do for love
And God observes from up above
Thus, what I do for least of these
I know that my good Father sees

Even without encouragement
My heart says it is time well spent
For I am working for the Lord
And that alone is just reward

To serve God of eternity
Such privileged opportunity
So, no compliment could be greater
Than to be used by my creator
