230921 Worth the Effort

Worth the Effort You'll travel miles and miles to reach The salty air and sandy beach Can't wait for smell and feel of each So it was worth the effort  You searched and searched both high and low  Wonder where did that lost thing go Won't stop 'til found because you know That it is worth the effort  You crack the books both day and night  Sometimes until the morning light For that diploma's within sight And so it's worth the effort  You make the climb, though all uphill Your legs are aching, even still The summit view was such a thrill That it was worth the effort You're in despair and misery Get down in prayer on bended knee Fervently pray 'Til half-past three For know, it's worth the effort  A friend in need puts out a call But you just don't have time at all Or say you'll help, but drop the ball Are they not worth the effort  You'll try new restaurant 'cross town Church is too far, so you're not down Besides, the preaching make...

230920 Each Day

Each Day I want to greet the world each day With joy, but I don't feel that way I know I should, I really do Yet, many days, I just get through  A list of tasks a mile long Create an attitude all wrong So, not embracing gift it is But sigh, and moan, and groan "gee whiz" I thank you, God, for each new day Too often, they're just words I say Perhaps because I think I should  Or to convince myself I'm good But, you Lord know what's in my heart And when I only give you part Or when my problems and my strife Have clouded the glory of this life Forgive me, God, for spitting on The miracle of each new dawn For that's exactly what I do When for each I don't worship you Help me to cherish every one From rising to the setting sun And do so with sincerity  See each as gift you've given me Restore a right spirit in me Replace with joy my negativity  Soften my heart your divine way So that I glorify You each day Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, a...

230918 Things To Do

Things To Do I've always been a list maker Recording all things needing done As I complete each written task Delight in crossing off each one It seems no matter what I do  I can't seem to shorten the list For every time I cross one off There're two more chores that I have missed Though I am by no means a slacker For I work very hard each day  Can't relish in completed tasks That doesn't seem to be my way Instead, when each long day is through And I take stock of the day's list  Don't celebrate the tasks crossed off Only lament the ones I've missed As if the list is some score card That takes measure of my true worth And accomplishing a lot each day's  My only true purpose on earth Of course, each day has work to do And things that I know must be done But my sole value and my worth  Is not based on every last one For God sees me as his dear child Not as list of accomplishments  He loves me  'cause of who he is In world's economy, makes no sens...

230916 Hidden

Hidden Do you ever feel you want to hide To look at life from the outside To blend into the scenery  For everyone to let you be With others, don't want to converse  Just stay in your own universe  You want to simply be alone Not answer door, or texts, or phone There's times that is okay to be To rest and recharge battery To be alone with your own thoughts  Recover from all battles fought  But, if it's what you often do That's really not how God made you  Created you with need to be With others in community  An introvert, you just might be Most of my life that described me Not what I'm talking about here Let's see if I can make it clear The hidden ones who make the choice  To hide away without a voice Don't want to interact at all Not be with others,  just withdraw  We all have seasons when that's true But if that's what you always do Perhaps there's more that's going on Might feel that you just don't belong Or maybe it just seems okay Hi...

230915 Salty/Sweet

Salty/Sweet Pretzels and ice cream - northern treat Perfect combo of salty/sweet Salty fries and chocolate shake What a delightful twosome make Pink bowed girls and rough, tough guys Sweet and salty in disguise  Athlete's gym socks, baby's feet Apt examples of salty/ sweet The contrast of each can't be beat For salty compliments the sweet In life, the same is also true Happy feels best when you've been blue How sweet peace is when right before Your anger felt just like a war And salty tears bring sweet relief From hurt or sadness, pain or grief What joy in sweetness of deep sleep When stress has been a slumber thief And how sweetness comes without fail From smell of beaches salty air As Christians, we should be both too For that's what Christ calls us to do In fallen world, project sweetness  Yet, preserve and flavor like salt is Be honest, dependable, salt of earth Virtuous and of great worth Sweet in speech and attitude  Sweet spirit filled with gratitude  The con...
