240423 For Your Glory

Image
For Your Glory Dear Father, give me eyes to see That all is made for Your Glory Birds of the air, fish of the sea All living creatures  A to Z Each flowering plant,  majestic tree From red apple to zucchini  Things huge and those too small to see Sing for Your Glory endlessly Each mountain rising from the sea Raindrops return eventually All nature balanced perfectly Yes, all of it's for Your Glory  The heavens, too, proclaim Glory  Each star in every galaxy Reflect light of the Deity Sing holy, holy, most holy And what about humanity  Meant to model your majesty  From Adam all through history In Your own image thus made me Mankind made, too, for Your Glory Then, ate from the forbidden tree Which changed man's perfect destiny  Destroying peace and harmony So, sent Your Son to set us free Defeat death; cause Satan to flee Thus, we can live eternally God, was all done for Your Glory Lord, I will praise you faithfully For what Christ Jesus did ...

240420 Valuables

Image
Valuables   Where do you keep your valuables? A safe deposit box? Perhaps  a secret hiding place  Or container with three locks? For when we value something  Then we treat it with great care Don't want it broken, lost or cracked Especially if rare One thing we have that's of great worth Can't be kept behind a lock It is the precious gift of time The tickings of the clock Though we can't lock time in a safe It's value's how it's spent If spent in acts of selfless love It's thus great investment Possessions can be valuable  Like jewelry, coins, and art But people and dear memories  Are most precious to our heart For loved ones should be treasured More than diamonds or pure gold The best place for this treasure  Is for our heart to hold  Nothing of value's ever free It comes with sacrifice  For what we value, we protect It shows we know it's price Most valuable investment  Of our effort, time, and love Is relationship with Jesus And the Fat...

240419 The Easy Road

Image
The Easy Road Most often prefer the easy road Just because the hike's a breeze  And I've found the older I've become It is kinder to my knees We humans can be lazy lot And so often our insistence  When presented with an option Choose the path of least resistance  Have learned in life the bumpy road Though it's seldom one I'd pick Still, is where the greatest lessons lie Though that route is rarely quick Too, when it has a steep incline It's a harder hike to do But with grit and perseverance  The reward's a greater view For we learn the most when roads are rough And must contemplate each step Lessons that the easy road won't yield Secrets that struggle has kept Do not be quick to always choose The easier thing to do For it is resistance in this life That greatly strengthens you For what's true within the local gym When we want our muscles strong Is equally true spiritually When resisting what is wrong Seems the times my road is toughest  And the going...

240418 They Are Watching

Image
They Are Watching   They are watching, don't you know  They see each thing you do They watch the world through little eyes And learn its truths from you  It's through the way that you react They learn how to behave It's so much more the things you do Than anything you say The raising up of little ones T'is great responsibility  Yet, profound blessing also is Creating legacy Just like good earthly parents Our Lord teaches, nurtures too It isn't only what he says Though every word is true But, also it's each action done That we can depend on He shows his love and faithfulness To each daughter and each son This struggling world is watching too How God's children do behave So what we do and what we say Is how God is portrayed That feels like a great burden On our shoulders to be placed Though we can't act just like God does Can demonstrate his love and grace When we forgive other's missteps And love them where they are Our heart's revealed as genuine...

240417 The Helper

Image
The Helper Mr. Fred Rogers used to say Look for the helpers in your day When you need aid or you have doubt That's when the helpers you seek out Look for those who will lend a hand For they're the ones that understand  Since chances are that they're the kind Who were in need of help sometime A helper has a servant's heart When work needs doing, they just start Don't wait around until they're asked Or till specific job they're tasked A helping spirit takes the lead For they are quick to see a need How do you know a servant's heart? No hesitation's on their part Compassion is their middle name Their attitude -- "you'd do the same" See, helpers are the ones who care Thus, share God's love when burdens share Christ was a helper, as we know  Helped poor and sick where e're did go As word got out, the crowds did come For they learned where their help comes from And still today the same is true A helper, Jesus is for you God's lo...

240412 How Will You Be Remembered?

How Will You Be Remembered? How will you be remembered  When your time on earth is through  When friends and family gather round What will they say of you  Perhaps idea's morbid  But please entertain the thought  Will you have lived a worthy life  Or one that's all for naught  Has life been in pursuing  And accumulating wealth  Have you lived your life for others  Or instead just lived for self  Will church be overflowing  With all those whose lives you've touched  Or will it be more intimate  Some friends, but not too much  How will you be remembered  What will be your legacy  Will your passing leave a mighty hole  Within your family  Will you be fondly remembered  For the kindness that you've shown  Be spoken 'bout in glowing terms  By everyone you've known  Or will a nameless preacher  Who didn't know the real you  Speak some generic eulogy  When yo...

240411 A Gift

A Gift I just received a special gift The giver, unaware And when I turned to thank him Saw he was no longer there Delivered it without a thought Of how it'd be received  The gift, a smile, so warmly sent It paused the way I grieved For in my own despair, I'd lost All hope of happy days But then this stranger's gesture Somehow broke through my dark haze To him, t'was just a little thing So very casually done To me, it was invaluable  A ray of golden sun My happiness had vanished From my sorrow and my pain My grief had so convinced me I could not find joy again Yet, that one fleeting kindness  Brought me warmth that I did lack  And just because a stranger smiled Found myself smiling back Somehow, my burden lightened Found some hope where none had been Could it be with that small gesture I'll let happiness back in? Perhaps I've made too much of it After all, twas just a smile I only know  it brought me joy That I'd missed for a while Perhaps I've missed so...

240409 Forgive Me

Forgive Me Forgive me, Lord, for I have sinned I said I'd stop - did it again Try to refrain with all my might Time and again, I lose the fight Abhor the things I say and do Knowing that you abhor them too Yet, I can't go a single day Without behaving the same way The spirit's willing, truly is But I've not enough strength to give So, I feel wretched through and through  For, things don't want to do, I do Yes, spirit's willing; body's weak And so again forgiveness seek Knowing that you'll grant it to me If I repent most earnestly Yet, though I know the war's been won Oft days, I still am fighting one New battles rage within my mind Or, those already fought, rewind Continue covering same ground Though I know where redemption's found For Jesus died to set me free Still, Satan keeps condemning me Why do I listen to a liar I worship authority that's higher God's given me all that I need What Christ has freed is free indeed And so I'll s...
