240930 Sit With Me

Sit With Me Good friend, do come and sit a spell Please tell me, dear if all is well So, how has life been treating you Sit with me a moment or two Sit over here right next to me I so enjoy your company  I want to hear what's on your mind Come sit, if you would be so kind Pull up a chair; come have a seat Sit at my table and let's eat For nothing has a warmer feel Than when we sit and share a meal Sit in my lap and hear a story Of those before, and all their glory Then snuggle close; head on my chest Safe and secure, in peaceful rest Sit with me as the world spins on Though after dusk or before dawn For I'm available any time And I promise I'll never mind So, come dear child, sit at my feet And I will share secrets so sweet Of how you are adored by me For all time, through eternity  And though I know you through and through  Sit with me so you'll know me too Don't scurry so; sit and be still That's only way to know my will So come here close and have a sea...

240928 Godly Suffering

Godly Suffering Oh, how I am ashamed of me For I don't suffer silently Instead, I whine and bellyache Man's sympathy,  I gladly take My suffering  - don't tend to hide Instead, almost a source of pride My attitude is " woe is me" Nothing about it is godly I'm suffering, so understand When I don't lend a helping hand Excuse it; thus, live selfishly  Though others suffer more than me Of course, when we are suffering  That should not be a lonely thing There're times when we all need a hand Yet, still extend one as we can Though suffering,  it's no excuse And self-pity is of no use For no one makes it through this life Without loss, sorrow, pain, or strife Was blessed to love a dear, dear friend Who suffered godly till the end No matter what pain she did face She handled all of it with grace And though her suffering was great She smiled and did not hesitate  To share her faith and praise her King And pray with others suffering And even more miraculou...

240927 The Christian Life

The Christian Life Is Christian life all sweet and nice With blessings falling down like rain Yet, followers of Jesus Christ  Aren't spared life's suffering and pain Is Christian life inoculation  From all life's worries and it's cares But, we all live in world full of sin And aren't immune to Satan's snares Is Christian life always smooth sailing  With no big waves or stormy seas God's children, too, get sick and ailing We're never told it'd be a breeze The Christian life- why even follow  If it can't offer guarantees For godly promises ring hollow Instead, why not live as we please Seems Christian life has no advantage  It doesn't minimize life's woes Can it prevent the devil's damage Seems darkness only grows and grows  In fallen world, Christian life's hated God's morals require you take a stand Sin's appetite not easily sated And sin and hate go hand in hand As Christian, must live like my Savior  But look at how he...

240926 On Purpose

On Purpose What is your purpose; yes, why are you here Do you have no idea, or is it crystal clear What do you live for; your reason to be Are you living for others, or just selfishly  Why were you born; in this world, where's your place Would anyone care if your life was erased Do we all have a purpose, a reason on earth Was it planned from the start; even before our birth For life without purpose is empty indeed It is hardwired within us; it's something we need  Yes, it gives life true meaning, a reason to live To know that we matter, and have gifts to give Without reason for living, we stumble 'round lost So we seek meaning elsewhere, no matter the cost Thus, leading to trouble; for the devil is slick And a man without purpose is easier to trick But, how do you find it if you've not a clue Well, the key, I believe, is what's closest to you The passions you have and the people you love  Are guideposts to purpose, each sent from above  It's not always coincid...

240925 Fall Garden

Fall Garden How I love digging in the dirt Until my hands and knees both hurt To turn the soil with hoe or spade Till finally, perfect bed is made Not just in spring but in the fall When pansies, mums, tulip bulbs call It seems dirt under fingernails  Is remedy for all my ails For there is magic in the soil So, all my digging isn't toil Instead, with every spade I lift Feels like Creator's precious gift For when I plant I've part to play Creating beauty, in small way With every seed, and bulb, and sprout New life springs forth, without a doubt  It also breathes new life in me And for a time, I'm worry-free Then, as fall garden starts to grow I get to reap what e're I sow I reap in joy of time well spent  I reap in beauty, contentment  I reap in calmness and in peace On garden bench, stress I release As I survey fall garden scene My awe of God's acutely keen His hand in every living thing Birds in the birdbath, bulbs for spring The miracle of life renewed Rejuv...

240924 Suffering

Suffering Why is there so much suffering  For it is such a dreadful thing This world is full of pain and grief  Feels never ending; no relief Why do so many suffer so Why their story a tale of woe Be it from loss or some affliction  Hardship, depression or addiction  There's suffering for every man But, that was never the Lord's plan Exactly when did it begin When the first man said yes to sin For sin brought with it much distress Creating world that's quite a mess One filled with anguish, trauma, pain Root cause of all of it - sin's stain Yes, there is suffering everywhere  And we all have a cross to bear We Christians don't get off scot-free When Jesus says to, "Follow me." In fact, when Christ knocks at our door We may be called to suffer more But suffering in Jesus's name Is how we defeat Satan's game While no one welcomes suffering  There's godly lessons it can bring Gain strength, endurance, patience, more  When tribulation, we endure A...

240923 More

More In neverending quest for more What are we truly looking for  Is it just 'bout acquiring stuff If so, then when's enough enough  Does having more fulfill a need Or is it just done out of greed Is keeping up with Jones the goal Or having more fill up some hole Not just more stuff that we acquire But more attention, we desire To get more likes for things we post Or better yet, to get the most Or be a person of acclaim Thrilled that more people know our name To have more trophies in our case And more who recognize our face Perhaps our "more" takes form of thrills Be it from bottle, danger, pills If it pumps more adrenaline  Then, no more thinking; we're all in It's not more stuff, more thrills, or fame For none of that's truly our aim To be accepted as we are Is what we're searching for, by far Sincerely, what we need more of Is not all this, but just more love For all the other things we chase Are things only love can replace Yet, human love can fa...

240921 The Arrogance of Man

The Arrogance of Man  How great the arrogance of man That he thinks God can't, but he can His way is better; God's is worse Implied to King of Universe Or sometimes more than just implied Lord's great omniscience, man's denied " How could God know what's best," says he I'll live life independently  Man gives his arrogance the nod When he thinks he can replace God And live his life completely free Devoid of all authority The arrogance of man's to blame Since the Garden of Eden's shame And ever since that fateful day Man's wanted to have his own way Of course, free will is a good thing Unless man wills himself as king And expects to have sovereign reign  Plus, his own glory, seeks to gain Arrogance makes a man believe  He's in control, but that's naive For real control's fleeting at best Truly, it's in God manifest How does man get off his high horse? How does his arrogance change course? Too often it requires dark pit For m...

240920 Openings

Openings Open my eyes so I can see This world and its awesome beauty Each mountain, river, redwood tree Reflection of God's majesty Dear Father, open up my eyes To see right through the devil's lies Give me clear vision so I'm wise That truth's what God personifies Open my ears so I can hear Your Spirit whisper loud and clear  So off your path I never veer Assured that you are always near Then, when I open up your Word I know that it's your voice I've heard And what I hear, live afterward  Sound of your truth, my soul is stirred Lord, Jesus open up my hands And use them for your perfect plans To do the work that God commands So through them, your kingdom expands Open my hands from a clenched fist So charity I don't resist For need and poverty persist My hands can be used to assist I ask you to open my mind To love people of every kind And know we all are intertwined  To love is how we were designed  Open my mind to every flaw Even if the hard truth is raw So...

240919 Past

Past Past is past; you can't return  Yet, looking back can help you learn Learning must happen to be free Of any painful memories  What's your relationship with the past Is it filled with fond memories  Or does it only hold regrets The kind that bring you to your knees My guess is that it's a mixed bag Of joyful times and sorrows too For past's the culmination of Every thing that you've lived through  For each one's past is filled with things  We'd like to share, or never tell There're reasons you should visit there But, it is not a place to dwell There's joy in reminiscing 'bout Each fun and happy memory  If looking back holds only loss Perhaps it's not the place to be Of course, we should learn from the past The happy and likewise the sad For memories make who we are The good, the ugly, and the bad The past is past; you can't go back But it can be a teacher, wise Through past mistakes, can surely learn Instrument of growth, not to des...

240918 Comparison

Comparison Why is it that when I compare I view those with blessings to spare Or those living as millionaire  And not those who have cupboards bare When I compare, I compare up They're winners; I'm just runner up Certain that when they drink or sup It's from a silver plate and cup What if, instead, I compared down To those on the hard side of town Where all they own are hand-me-downs  Don't have or do much of renown Would I see my lot differently Compared to those worse off than me For some have troubles endlessly That's not my story, thankfully If life's one of comparison  Becomes a game I never win And hard to stop once I begin Don't look outward, but look within Comparison is overblown  It only makes me moan and groan What matters is not what I own But that I serve Jesus alone The greatest way that life is spent Is when I learn to be content  Comparison just brings torment Ingratitude for blessings sent Comparing should not be my quest But counting way...
