240816 Living Afraid

Living Afraid  When I was just a little girl  Was frightened by the big, wide world Scared of huge dogs and older boys My fears robbed me of many joys Was scared of those I didn't know Afraid of new places to go Fearful of trying brand new things Possible mistakes trying them brings Was frightened of sounds in the night Spiders and insects that may bite There was so much that frightened me Lived so anxious and timidly Most of these fears I have outgrown  Through circumstance or on my own Yet, there are fears I cannot shake Talking in crowds, making mistakes Fear of displeasing those I love Especially the Lord above Fear of future's uncertainty  Afraid I'll run out of money Scared that I won't find love again Afraid of losing a dear friend Fearful of how speed demons drive Is fear part of being alive? A trauma could be at fear's source  Seems dwelling on it makes it worse Some fears are simply unexplained  May never know from whence they came Yet, I k...

240815 Die To Self

Die To Self Dear Father, help me die to self I just can't do it; need your help I say that I'll put others first Yet, ego has unquenchable thirst And so instead, I think of me Then others come secondarily  Sometimes their needs don't come at all Attitude could use an overhaul Dear Father,  won't you humble me Help me live with humility To seek to see another's need Let "serving others" be my creed For I want to be more than nice To be the hands and feet of Christ  Not simply be words that I say But really, truly live that way Dear Lord, let my motives be pure To serve your kingdom, nothing more To seek those others look right through  See them as worthy; as you do My selfish nature, put to end A loving one, then to extend Never seeking my own fame Instead do all in Jesus' name Let my life be reflection of My Savior's boundless, tender love  When I die, may my legacy Be that I lived life selflessly

240814 Praying For You

Praying For You I don't know you, nor you know me Yet, I pray for you earnestly  I see you walking down the street And pray that all your days are sweet Don't have to know you or your needs To pray each hope and dream  succeeds I see you pull in parking space  Pray all your traveling is safe Ahead of me in checkout line I pray that your day's going fine Don't have to know your name at all To pray for you to hear God's call What your life's like, can only guess Still, I'll pray for your happiness  Pray for the neighbor right next door That they have people to adore Hear ambulance's sirens blare And pray that you are in God's care May never have walked in your shoes Yet, pray that you know the Good News Pray for you and your family  Though you are a stranger to me Pray for people I'll never meet That Jesus' love makes them complete  Pray for those in authority  They'll do their jobs with honesty Pray for teachers and preachers, too For th...

240813 A Little Kindness

A Little Kindness We're living in such angry times Seems hard for people to be kind So many have a shortened fuse Oh my, the language people use! It seems the whole world is on edge Upset by something someone said Unwilling to hear differing views Or in a flash, their temper lose Yes, society is quite a mess  Living in  constant state of stress Anxiety is through the roof Something must change,  to tell the truth This isn't how life ought to be  In angst, short-tempered,or angry Can't walk around stressed all the time The remedy is to be kind A little kindness, heaven knows Is better than coming to blows Perhaps avert catastrophes  By just injecting niceties  Such sour faces going 'round Try smiling, even though they frown Tell others, " Have a blessed day." Then, seek to make theirs be that way When tempted just to lose your head Speak words of gratitude instead  "Please," and " thank you," "I love you!" Have magic in them; it ...

240812 Safe Space

Safe Space We're all in search of a safe space Place where we feel secure  Where can express true feelings Not feel timid or unsure We all long for a safe shelter Where true self don't have to hide A place where we feel comfortable  Where peace and love abide We all need an environment  Where life won't feel so hard An easy going kind of place  Where one let's down their guard A place where we're accepted With shortcomings, warts, and all Where we will be supported Be uplifted when we fall How blessed if we call that place "home" And those people "family" But in the midst of fallen world Might not be reality For those we should be safest with Could be ones who've let us down Leaving us vulnerable,  unsure Turned our safe space upside down  Still safe place's needed all the more The Father knows that, too  In fact, he's safest place to go For he knows the real you Yes, he is our safe shelter Our true self, don't need to hide The ...

240810 Growth In Brokenness

Growth In Brokenness  Seeds must be broken 'fore they grow For that's the way of seeds, you know Then, to the gardener's delight Emerge from darkness into light  Can't happen any other way If not broken, then seeds they stay But, once they have, they'll start to sprout  And that's how new growth comes about  Where seed is planted's dark and deep And though it seems the seed's asleep  In truth, there's changing from within With brokenness, it can begin  Perhaps your pit feels dark and deep And dreams you've had have gone to sleep Remember that when you break, too There's change and growth that you'll go through  Though brokenness's a thing we hate Through it, new growth can germinate For when planted in fertile lands Our hope and trust's in Gardener's hands For God takes even tiny seeds And grows them into what he needs Yet, sometimes brokenness must come To further the Father's kingdom Yes, he can take our brokenness  Pr...
