250527 A Compliment

A Compliment  I sure could use a compliment  For all my energy is spent On doing things nobody sees Out of duty or just to please  If I could hear a word of thanks Would do a lot to fill my tanks For, to be honest, I won't lie There are days my reserves run dry Someone to notice what I do Would surely help me muddle through Another day of endless tasks Is that really too much to ask Even a single word of praise Could lighten up the heavy days To know that what I do is seen By even just one human being Taken for granted, sometimes feel When all I do seems no big deal To people that I do it for  Yet, never want to just keep score For what I do I do for love And God observes from up above Thus, what I do for least of these I know that my good Father sees Even without encouragement  My heart says it is time well spent For I am working for the Lord And that alone is just reward To serve God of eternity  Such privileged opportunity  So, no compliment ...

250526 Memorial Day

Memorial Day In memory of all those who served And died within their service  They served our country, that is true  It's also true they served us Their sacrifice was ultimate  Their families bore the pain They gave their all with selflessness  Did not come home again We honor them Memorial Day  For serving willingly For causes bigger than themselves  To keep our country free We wave flags, wear its colors, too Perhaps have a parade But none of that's sufficient thanks For debt that they have paid No "thank you," can be properly said To those no longer here But, can remember what they've done Reflect on it each year As comfort to all those that grieve I hope you know And so believe That Jesus understands your price For, he too knows of sacrifice  So enjoy the freedom of this life But remember too the sacrifice  Of those who fought with bravery And each military family

250524 Work in Progress

Work in Progress  Perhaps you think I've something wrong But, I so love to mow the lawn To see the yard all trim and neat When mowing, edging are complete And you'd be right if you assume I also like to paint a room Be cooler hue or one that's warm I thrill to see a wall transform  And though both chores require work  Neither are jobs I choose to shirk There's satisfaction given me To see results immediately  Don't tackle all projects with zeal For some tasks hold little appeal Work can feel anything but light When the results are not forthright  There's some work I don't like at all When it requires the long haul Thus, tend to do little tasks first While longer ones feel more coerced Desire to be gratified Immediately, can't be denied For most of us, there's no debate We simply do not like to wait Though waiting can be difficult  It's part of being an adult Think otherwise is juvenile  Takes time for things that are worthwhile  Hard to wai...

250523 Thoughts and Prayers

Thoughts and Prayers To a fallen world, when a tragedy strikes Saying "thoughts and prayers" is a trigger No matter how big the crisis may be Don't they know that our God is much bigger Understandably with each new tragedy  Everyone wants some action be done But, those not aware of the power of prayer Don't perceive it as the perfect one For, the first place to start with all matters of heart Is where thoughts are, and right away, pray Perhaps absence of prayer is the way we got here And without it, that's just where we'll stay Yes, of course action, too, is required that's true Father says faith without works is dead So, it isn't too late to spread love, not just hate For we know all too well where hate's lead Lord, may our thoughts align May yours also be mine As I humbly seek you in my prayer And whatever life brings Keep me safe 'neath your wings Knowing with certainty that you care  So, when hurt and grief come Comfort me till it's d...

250522 Just Take a Step

Just Take a Step Not sure which way that you should go  Just take a step - first heel, then toe For there's nowhere you'll ever get If you've not even begun yet If there's a goal you'd like to meet It can't happen while on your seat The way for progression to show Is if you just get up and go It doesn't matter how much prep If afterward, don't take a step Need not know the entire way Just start - then take it day by day Frightened of making a mistake  Certain that a misstep you'll make Though that's a possibility  You won't know till you try and see Path feels like mountain you must climb Just take it one step at a time If road you're on leaves you perplexed Still put one foot in front of next Yet, even if you must back track Nothing happens if you don't act If find you need to make U-turn Just use it as a way to learn God's with you each step of the way Redirecting if yoy stray So, place your confidence in him Trust in his word...

250521 Forgiven

Forgiven Thought I forgave them; know I tried But that old wound's been opened wide Something has triggered my past pain So now I'm hurting once again " I do forgive," is what I said Yet, old offense still fills my head Dark thoughts that I claimed I put down Today, I find still lingering 'round "Despair," I said, "I'm through with you." Yet, you returned out of the blue And all the hurt I thought I'd beat Is back again, pooled 'round my feet Tripping me up, making me fall It seems I've hit the same brick wall Must I break through it once again  Dear Lord, will this fight ever end? Forgiveness battle, thought I'd won And bitterness, believed was done But devil knows where to attack Thus, hurt and anger have come back I know the devil plays a part  In rewounding my broken heart For, if it's in dark thoughts I dwell He's trapped me in a kind of hell So, tell me, God, when will this end No longer past hurts reoffend W...

250520 Don't! Stop! Don't Stop!

Don't! Stop! Don't Stop! When devil whispers in your ear And tells you, live your life in fear Don't! Stop! Your Savior says, "Fear not." (Isaiah 41:10) When sadness you are going through  And crying seems all you can do Don't! Stop! Joy comes in the morning ( Psalm 30:5) When every day is met with dread And worries always fill your head Don't! Stop! "Don't let your hearts be troubled..." (John 14:1) When frustration is at a peak And angry words you want to speak Don't! Stop! "Kind words are like honey..." (Proverbs 16:24) When someone takes advantage of you Get even's what you want to do Don't! Stop! Vengeance is mine, says the Lord (Romans 12:19) When feeling weak; all strength is gone Want to give up; just can't go on Don't Stop! "Be strong and courageous"  (Joshua 1:9) When Father seems so far away Although you seek him every day  Don't Stop! "Seek and ye shall find" (Matthew 7:7-8) ...

250519 Home Again

Home Again Care not how long or far we roam It's always so good to be home And though the trip back, we may dread It's nice to sleep in our own bed Though travels take us far and wide It's sweet return where we abide There're sights to see where e'er we go Still, pleasant sight's the place we know There's warm familiarity  Of place we live with family While travel has exciting air We know inside we don't live there Our life is seen as a trip, too With thrilling things to see and do Travel companions go along Some for short while, others lifelong Yet, if our life's a Christian one We know our journey's just begun For though the Earth seems home, it's true Know really we're just passing through Like any trip, we seek out thrill But some things only home can fill And since this world is not our home Unsatisfied, despite where roam Eternal home's the only place When we see Jesus face to face That all our longings will be filled And rest...

250517 Remember the Alamo

Remember the Alamo We've come to see the Alamo Where battle happened long ago A fight for freedom had begun With highest hopes it would be won The yearning heart of every man Is to live freely as they can No reinforcements brought relief Yet, still held on to that belief A line was drawn upon the sand Each fighter crossed it - save one man Though far outnumbered, fought because They each believed was worthy cause And in the smoke of battle's haze They fought bravely for thirteen days Though enemy had breached the wall Each Texian gave it their all While every single man would die Their deaths gave birth to battle cry Santa Ana thought the war was over Defeat made other Texians bolder The year was 1836 Significance no one predicts For in the rubble of the Mission Rose up a stronger new commission  Avenge Ana's brutality And fight onward to victory Though Alamo ends in defeat The freedom story's not complete There's still a battle we're all in Not just if you...

250516 Rest

Rest Rest is not just a privilege  That's a truth I've had to learn It's something that's greatly required  Not a reward you have to earn Sometimes it's learned the hard way Through sickness in injury When my body has been forced to rest To restore my health to me Yet, in this hustle, bustle world We think that it is best To complete as much as possible  And then never stop to rest To some rest denotes a weakness So the price of it's too steep Or somehow, it's a bragging right To require so little sleep But that's not how God intended For on seventh day did rest Not because the Lord would need it But, to teach us what is best For God's always about balance In our lives and in all things  So designed our bodies to need rest And restoration that it brings Yes, the call to rest's a balanced one All things done in moderation Neither be a workaholic  Nor go into hibernation  So, don't fight it like a toddler's nap Surrender to it; be refreshed...

250515 Happy Day

Happy Day Today is such a happy day  Because I've chosen it that way Not due to any circumstance  Or solely out of happenstance  My happiness is all my choice Thus, I've decided to rejoice Though there is much I could fret from Chosen to smile and not be glum While circumstances might not change My countenance I can arrange So, rather than head hanging down A happy face replaces frown Though one could say that's being fake Perhaps there is a different take For when you dwell on hurt or pain What good thing do you really gain Yes, we all choose to entertain  Good or bad thoughts within our brain Though we can't stop each thought that comes Can focus on the happy ones To have an upbeat attitude  Best way to start's with gratitude  For when we have a thankful heart Then happiness it will impart I've so much to be grateful for A loving family I adore Enough to eat, a comfy bed A working car, roof over head The blessing of new day in time A God who's fait...

250514 World of Hurt

World of Hurt Our world is in a world of hurt I guess 'cause sin is old as dirt For ever since sin came to be Suffering's become our destiny  The world has hurt since Eden's end When paradise, Lord did suspend God did not ever want it so Yet how it happened, even though So pain and anguish fills the land Most often, at the devil's hand And then we find before too long That those in pain pass it along For hurting ones hurt others, too On purpose or don't mean to do Then, in return, receive more pain And thus it starts all over again  There is a way to help it end For pain and suffering to mend To break the cycle, break the chain A bit of paradise regain Since we all hurt and know how feels The happiness and joy it steals Compassion should be path we choose In dealing with all pain's issues For Jesus, too knew pain and hurt When he was walking on the earth Though he felt all pain known to man Yet, loves as only Savior can To repair your pain's aftermath  Let...

250513 God Cares Not

God Cares Not God cares not how you look, what you've read in a book Or the kind of clothes worn on your back He cares not who you know, the fine places you go Or if athletic talent you lack God cares not if you've found that you've put on some pounds Nor if hair has been thinning or gray Not if house is unclean, the rock stars you have seen Or the trophies, awards you display What does God care about? I can say without doubt It's not what's parked inside your garage  Or the money you bank, social status you rank  All of those things are simply marage  On the spiritual front, forgive if I am blunt  But he cares not a flip what you preach  It's much more what you do than the things you speak to  For your actions are how that you teach  God cares not if one knows how big mustard seed grows  He just cares if you have faith at all  Doesn't matter to Him if you've memorized hymns  He just wants you to come when He calls  No requir...
